The Fund for Innovation and Technology Development received the leading role in piloting measures to support research, development and innovation in all Western Balkan economies, within the new European project “Policy Answers”, funded by the Horizon Europe program of the European Commission with a budget of 5 million euros.

The project aims to continue and increase the joint efforts of the European Union and the Western Balkans – North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro and Serbia – to foster cooperation in the fields of innovation, research, education, culture, youth and sports. The goal is ultimately to foster stability and prosperity while strengthening the region’s European perspective.

The Director of the Fund Festim Halili, in Vienna before the present representatives of the EU and the region pointed out that the role of FITD in this project once again confirms the determination of the Republic of North Macedonia for our integration into the European common market.

Policy Answers is led by the Center for Social Innovation (ZSI) in Vienna and includes 14 partner institutions from the European Union and the Western Balkan.

Activities such as high-level political meetings, analyzes and policy-making recommendations and capacity building of local actors are envisaged for more efficient integration of the Western Balkan into the European Research Area and innovation ecosystem.
