Swiss Entrepreneurship Program (Swiss EP): FITD is an example of functional government support

One of the main drivers of the startup ecosystem in North Macedonia is the Fund for Innovations and Technology Development, and as a primary funding resource for most startups and accelerators in the country, this institution takes a leading role in encouraging the development of startups in the country, together with Startup Macedonia, says the analysis of the Macedonian startup ecosystem, the Swiss EP.

In the text of the Swiss Entrepreneurship Program, the Fund is described as “everything but an ordinary government agency. They are agile, friendly and an crucial component of the Macedonian startup community.”

Swis Ep also recognizes this year’s new initiatives of FITD, i.e. the establishment of a National Startup Council that prepared a package of measures for ecosystem transformation, the introduction of the first Corporate Innovation Program for greater cooperation between large companies and startups, agreements with 6 banks for better conditions for lending to Macedonian startups, creating a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, as well as the first hybrid Investment Fund of 27 million euros that will invest in Macedonian startups from 100 thousand to 1.5 million euros.
