FITD and USAID continue their cooperation to support startup businesses and entrepreneurship

The Fund for Innovation and Technological Development and USAID signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that continues the cooperation to support entrepreneurship and startup businesses, strengthen the capacity of the private sector and increase competitiveness. Joint activities will include supporting investments in technology and new product development, fostering cross-sectoral collaboration and improved access to startup finance.

“USAID Macedonia is our long-term partners and supporters of the reforms in our country, so I am glad that in the next four years we will work on the realization of the three components that are priority for the economic development of Macedonia, more precisely improving competitiveness and productivity of startup companies, creating attractive employment opportunities and attracting digitally advanced young people to develop innovative solutions on the market” said Kosta Petrov, director of the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, activities are envisaged for improving and increasing the transparency of public institutions at central and local level. The support also refers to enabling greater cooperation between the Government, civil society and business entities.

“This memorandum enables USAID and the Fund for Innovation to work together to achieve more common goals. USAID’s strategic goals for the next five years are to increase the economic competitiveness and productivity of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, to help create economic opportunities for young people, and to reduce corruption. Under the new strategy, USAID works with partners who are leaders in their field, know how to implement and invest development resources. The Fund for Innovation is such a partner and we expect excellent cooperation”, said Erik Janovski, representative of the USAID Office.
