DFITD Festim Halili participated in "Prespa Dialogue Forum 2022"

DFITD Festim Halili today participated in the “Prespa Dialogue Forum 2022”, which is held from June 16-18 in Ohrid.

During the session “Green Agenda for the Western Balkans: a framework for the implementation of a sustainable and climate-neutral region”, in his address to the audience DFITD Halili presented FITD’s efforts to tackle climate change and invest in green investments, leading to the realization of the goals for sustainable development and fulfillment of the climate obligations within the pre-accession process of the European Union.

“A major step we are taking towards adapting and mitigating climate change is the recent decision of the Government to nominate the Fund to be the first national entity to start the accreditation process for the Green Climate Fund – of which we are particularly proud. As a national entity with direct access, we rise to the level of other international entities with access to GCF funds, such as UN agencies, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions. This will enable North Macedonia access to significantly higher climate finance as well as closer to the realization of the Goals for sustainable development and fulfillment of climate obligations within the pre-accession process of the European Union. At the same time, we will encourage domestic private companies to focus on investing in climate investments, such as green technologies, renewable energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the like” stated Halili.

The participants of the Prespa Dialogue Forum have a unique opportunity with their discussions, assessments and proposals to put a personal stamp on strengthening the stability of the Western Balkans region, enriching regional cooperation and sending a positive image of the region within its European integration. and international context.
