Petrov at 2021 ITU Regional Innovation Forum for Europe: We are working on rapid transformation of the Macedonian startup ecosystem

Digital transformation is a necessary step that we must take to have successful entrepreneurs, innovation and development of the startup ecosystem, and therefore FITD in the previous period takes concrete steps towards rapid digital transformation of public services, said the director of the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development Petrov, at today’s 2021 ITU Regional Innovation Forum for Europe.

At a panel discussion entitled “Achieving Regional Development Priorities through Digital Transformation”, attended Valeria Jonan, Deputy Minister for European Integration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Milena Lipovina Bozovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development of Montenegro, Florensa Haxhi, Director General of the Development Programs and Cooperation Unit at the Office of the Prime Minister of Albania and Ani Vashakmadze, Head of Department at the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA). Petrov, also presented the Fund’s activities positioning of the Republic of North Macedonia as a regional startup hub.

Namely, the National Startup Council has already prepared proposed measures for accelerated growth of the Macedonian startup ecosystem, which will be officially presented at the beginning of October.

In addition, FITD is currently working intensively on establishing an Investment Fund, which will be presented to the public by the end of the year.

To the participants of the panel, Petrov presented the Corporate Innovation Program as well as the investments made within the new public calls for digital assistant based on artificial intelligence and digitization of card index in the Institute for Macedonian Language “Krste Misirkov”. 

ITU Regional Innovation Forum 2021 for Europe is held from 22 to 23 September, within the Global Innovation Forum ITU 2021, with the support of the Ministry of Information Society and Administration of R. North Macedonia.
