FITD became the first entity in the Republic of North Macedonia to start accreditation procedure from the Green Climate Fund

We are especially proud that the Fund for Innovation and Technology Development, based on a decision of the Government, becomes the first entity in the Republic of North Macedonia to initiate an accreditation procedure by the Green Climate Fund in order to access the funds of the GCF.

The experience so far in developing programs to support the private sector, the portfolio of supported projects, established procedures and funding mechanisms, was the basis for submitting an application in 2020 in order for FITD to be the first entity to start the accreditation process.

As a central institution for support of micro, small and medium enterprises, with established practices for creating support instruments, FITD is a strategically appropriate entity to become an entity with direct access to the CAF and to contribute to the realization of the climate program priorities in the country.

GCF offers grants, loans, guarantees and other financial instruments for project financing. It also provides additional grants and technical assistance for the preparation of project funding proposals, as well as state readiness and preparation for engagement with the Fund, including support for accreditation of nominated national entities with direct access.
